Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park (2017)

Situated on the waterfront of Brooklyn and overlooking the lower Manhattan skyline, lies Brooklyn Bridge Park. During warm weather, this is an amazing location to visit and you can encounter people sunbathing out on the grass or just sitting by the waterside and admiring the view. I like to approach the area from Washington Street for the spectacular view of the Manhattan Bridge and make my way from there towards the Brooklyn Bridge.

In the background, Jane’s Carousel is visible. Originally constructed in 1922, it was purchased in the mid 1980’s, painstakingly restored for decades, and finally installed to the current site in 2011. It is housed in a jewel box-style glass pavilion designed by architect Jean Nouvel.

In the further background is one of the most recognizable structures in the world: the Brooklyn Bridge.

The scene depicted in the painting takes place on a gorgeous late spring day on May 29 2016. A crowd of people are enjoying the sun, park, and view of lower Manhattan. There is also a bride and groom visible seen taking wedding photos in the background.
