Bethesda Fountain in Central Park

Bethesda Fountain in Central Park (2016)

I consider Bethesda Fountain to be the heart and center of Central Park. Both the Fountain and the Terrace, were included in the original design and construction of Central Park and have remained the same for over 140 years. The painting is a view of the fountain from the perspective of the upper terrace during a hot summer’s day. The scene is set on a scorching hot day in the middle of summer. In the foreground, a young woman has a quiet moment of reflection while taking in the scene.
